Baby Mali

The school holidays are here - so today we went to the zoo to catch a glimpse of the cutest baby elephant.  My youngest, Luce, has always had a thing for elephants ("fana's") and giraffes ("rafi"), so imagine her delight at seeing the baby Fana.  Here's Mali - she's very sweet!

It's been a while

It's been a while since I blogged properly.  For some of you, this will be a relief, I'm sure.  For the rest of you - sorry about that.  Things in this household are busy enough.  A couple of extra activities or outings and things really get out of hand!  I've been doing a few markets lately, although I did have to duck out of yesterday's Shirt and Skirt.  Our entire household (yes, all six of us) have been battling colds.  Not terrible colds, but the kind that are persistent and niggling and just won't go away.

Aside from sewing I also like to knit and garden and cook.  On Saturday we joined a rather special tour as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival - a walking tour of the Middle Eastern Bakeries along Sydney Road.  It was fantastic!  Our hilarious host Monica Dullard was rather knowledgeable, gave us the back stories of the businesses and the families who run them.  Gosh these people work hard!  We were taken into their kitchens, saw the food being made, sampled it and yes - took goodies home!  Yum, yum, yum!!  Living in Brunswick we eat a fair bit of Middle-Eastern inspired food, so we were in foodie heaven on Saturday. And then, to finish off and slake our thirsts, a visit to the Union Hotel beer garden.

And because winter is coming (although it's hard to believe here in Melbourne today) - a cardigan (because this is supposed to be about Squirt Baby, not just about me!), taken at Mathilda's just over a week ago.

Ciao!

Mathilda's Market March 14

This is where Squirt Baby and lots of other fabulous stallholders will be tomorrow.

Can't say much more - still sewing madly!

I'll be clearing some summer stock to make way for autumn gear.

I love Autumn in Melbourne - warm enough to still be dining alfresco and cooler at night for snuggling under the doona.

Have a great weekend, and perhaps I'll see some of you tomorrow!

Sister's Market in St Kilda

Something different for this weekend - the Sister's Market goes to St Kilda!  It's always fun to try a new venue and this one is rather grand.  Cottage Nerd and I will be neighbours - so we'll have a chance to check out the other stallholders.

Yesterday I was at the North Melbourne Market Day and had a lovely time flanked by my neighbours Nicky and Lara.  Nicky was selling vintage gear with a great collection of scarves.  Lara has her own children's wear label Nellie B.  Today is Marv's 7th birthday and she has scored a beautiful Nellie B tutu.  I'll take some photos over the next couple of days and you can ooh and aah with delight too.
