Post-reunion blues

My eldest sister lives in the UK.  I wish she was here, within reach, in the same time zone.  But, for now, her place is on the other side of the world.

Most years she comes for a visit with her family in tow.  It's fantastic.  It's intense.  We spend as much time as possible together, but it's never enough.  And when they go home the grieving starts again.  So right now I'm experiencing the post-reunion blues.  I'm not blogging much, nor am I checking other blogs.  Commenting is even rarer.  Sewing - nah.  Knitting - kind of.  Ditto cooking.  Reading yes - because it's an escape.  I'm rather grumpy and ever-so-slightly-touchy.  My other comfort (aside from chocolate) is de-cluttering.  Not sure why.  But gosh it feels good!  Our neighbourhood is preparing for next week's hard waste collection.  I'm going out after dark to pick up a few discards in our street.  At least, I hope they're still waiting for me!

I'm also replaying our latest journey in my head.  I love exploring our country.  Soooo much to see, like this -

Does anyone else get unsettled by holidays?  We're already dreaming up the next one...

T.E.N.

Ten years ago this baby came into our lives.  I held him in my arms.  He'd made it.  Alive, well, perfect.  Ours.  We had hoped and waited for this baby for quite some time.  At that moment I believed he would be the only one, and I felt incredibly fortunate that I had this boy to love and cherish.

Today he is ten and he has three sisters too.  At the moment of his birth, I couldn't see myself ten years down the track.  But here I am.  Here we are.  And my heart is bursting with love.

Happy birthday my dear, sweet boy.

Back in the big smoke

Eleven days.  3480 km.  Exploring, experiencing, examining.  Family.  Young & old.  Laughing, drinking, sharing.  Swatting flies.  Cursing mozzies.  Loving every moment.

On our way...nearly

I'm signing off for a couple of weeks as our extended family goes on a road trip to the Flinders Ranges.

Look at those amazing colours, the landscape.  We're all very excited.  Stay tuned for the slide night!

To market to market...

Tomorrow I'm off to the Brunswick Town Hall for the Sister's Market - the first for the year.  It's on from 10-4 and I'll be in my usual spot just inside the front door.  And speaking of doors - a lovely parcel made it's way to my front door today -

So over the next couple of weeks, during the many hundreds of kilometres we'll be travelling, this wool will become little beanies and cardigans.  But since we're heading into red soil territory, the cream will be staying at home!
